Baptismal Information for Confirmation

It is absolutely necessary that all things be in order before a candidate can be admitted to the sacrament of Confirmation. Four things are of particular concern:

That a certificate of Baptism is produced as evidence of the baptism of the candidate. (In the case of a candidate who was baptized in St. Augustine’s Parish, a certificate is not required. The parish office will verify the baptism from parish records provided they are found.)
That an appropriate preparation for Confirmation takes place.
That the candidate is a member of St. Augustine’s Parish or has received written permission for Confirmation to take place here.
That a sponsor has been chosen. A sponsor must be a baptized and confirmed Roman Catholic in good standing with the church, not the parent of the candidate, and having completed their sixteenth year of age.
